LinkedIn and Branding: Be Active in LinkedIn and Brand Yourself

 

        Someone says that LinkedIn is the world’s largest professional network which supplies a platform to professional s and the employers to share their information.  “Our (LinkedIn) mission is simple: connect the world's professionals to make them more productive and successful. When you join LinkedIn, you get access to people, jobs, news, updates, and insights that help you be great at what you do.”(“Mission”, 2013) Sign up in LinkedIn and act professional will increase the opportunity of finding a suitable job. Definitely I agree in some points as a university student.

The LinkedIn is a well-known network for all professionals. It is designed for brand the users to help them gain their targets. As a senior student in university, I face a tough problem which is finding a job. The LinkedIn provides a platform for me to sell me to the employers. I can get information from the company which I am admired to go. According to the information, I can make right decision on my courses’ selection. I can change my job-hunting strategies. I can make a perfect profile in my LinkedIn account. The LinkedIn provides several tools to improve his customer’s image. For instance, I can customize the awkward URL to my unique identity which can lead the readers easy to remember or search. I can post my education background and working experience which can help the employers to easy find the point which the employers want to look for. After one semester, I can update my status and professional skill in the LinkedIn. Actually, university teaches me the professional knowledge which is the fundamental base of my career. LinkedIn is a platform which shows my personality, my professional skill and my career ambitions.  

 But on the other side, do not let the LinkedIn to block our way to success. Yes, LinkedIn can help us to gain higher career targets, but the prerequisite is that we must be active at the network. I can make me as an example. I signed up LinkedIn in one year ago.  Then I left it behind and I have not touched LinkedIn again until I took cs100W. I did nothing on my LinkedIn account. If some of my friends reference me to their boss, I will loss the opportunity When the boss check my LinkedIn.

In sum, LinkedIn is a useful network for us to improve our careers. The only thing we must do is that we must be active.

QR codes: Unique Identity

               Couple days ago, I met my high school classmate in a Starbucks. We have lost contact for more than 5 years, since I move to US. She came to San Jose as a business trip. We hugged and exchanged our information. “Scan my Wechat’s  QR code.”  She got her IPhone out and said. “WO, it is cool!”  We scanned each other’s IPhone and got all the other’s connect information.

               QR code is unique for each product and it becomes more and more popular. At the beginning, QR code just used in business. Now, we can find QR code everywhere.  QR code becomes an identity of person or business. Actually, I am not aware how useful the QR code before I exchanged information with my classmate who I met days ago. There are lots websites can help create unique QR codes. According to people’s requirement, people can use online tools to create different QR codes for different targets. www.qrstuff.com is a website for creating a free online QR code.  From QRstuff.com, people can find several steps to create a QR code, from color to image. Through a QR code, people can tell what the personality of the person or what the business do. People can get the information by just one step, scan. That is amazing.  QR code is a quick way to show off the the owner's unique personality.      

        

Everything has two sides:social networking security or lack of when promoting your brand: what is your choice.

              Nowadays, millions and billions people use social media, such as Facebook, Twitter, Google Plus, etc. At the same time, social media platforms are being increasing used by enterprises. Business owners use various social media platforms to introduce, communicate and update their information to their employees and customers, but everything has two sides. One side is that social media platforms can help business owners to build their reputation. On the other side, everyone knows that social media has big issue: security. For business sake, security or brand promotion, that is the question.

         Security is a serious issue for enterprise. Big companies spend millions of dollars on information security. They make detailed policy to protect their security. On the other side, most of social media platforms are open resources for public. Everyone can get information, data through social media platforms. If business owners plan to use social media platforms to promote their product, they must deliver their product information on the website.  Not only their customers but also their competitor can gather material through online. Information leaking could damage the foundation of business. As we see, social media platform is the obvious resource to jeopardize security. If business owners do not use social media platform to promote their product when they do not have enough reputation, what will happen.

           Social media platform is the effective way to help business owners to promote their
brand. When people, especially young people, plan to buy products, most of them like to search online to see the products’ brand rating. If people cannot find the brand online, I think that 99 percentage people will give up that brand and change to another famous brand. There are lots of social media tools can help business owners to set up platforms to communicate with their customers. For instance, when I face a problem that which brand car I should buy, Mercedes or BMW, I search online to solve the problem. The UBERVU list a detailed comparison about these two cars. I can easily find what I want according to my demand. If BMW is nobody, and I cannot find any information online, definitely it is not in my shopping list. Social media platform is important for business owners who has unknown products.          
                Which is important, security or reputation: that is question. From my opinion, both of them are indispensable. Business owner should find a social media which supply high security services. Finding the balance between security and social media platforms is the best choice for business owner.

My name is Yibei. I am fourth year student in Computer Science major. I transfer from De Anza college. When I watched the above video in the meteorology class, I was not shocked by the changing of temperature, but I was attracted by its computer technology which makes the information so vivid and clear to see. Can you image if there were no computer or internet, there would be no such a convenient way to share the video. Instead of using computer to search online to watch the video, professor has to spend more than 10 minutes to carry out mass of pictures and show the pictures one by one to tell the changing. This is the amazing part of computer science. It makes the hundreds moves becomes a single click. This is the reason why I choose computer science as my major. I got the above video by using Google engine. Over one billion questions are answered by Google, the most popular search engine in the world. The foundation of Google is his database. Google collects all the information from all over the world, and then he saves the information into his database. Instead of going to library and searching information from tons books, people can sit in front of computer and get what they want by searching online. This is the charms of computer technology. This is the charms of Google. This is the charms of database. As a student in computer science, I choose database as my study field. MySQL, the world’s most widely used open-source relational database management system, is my choice.  As a student, I learn knowledge from school and books, but I am short of real experience in the work place. I do not have any chance to use my knowledge in the real database system now, but I am definitely sure that I can handle it in the future. I am a computer science student. I am learning the most creative subject. I am standing in front of the technological revolution.
